Housing Services

Chilkoot Indian Association provides assistance to low income Alaska Native and American Indian Families. To qualify for services an application needs to be completed and returned to the Housing Office along with all additional documents listed on the application. A consultation with the Housing Coordinator is required to finish the application process. Following are the services provided:
•    Housing Rehabilitation/Weatherization
•    Emergency Rehabilitation Assistance
•    Homelessness Prevention
•    Student College Housing Assistance

Subsidized Low Income Apartment Rentals
Chilkoot Indian Association has two 4-Plexes. All 8 units are 2 bedrooms. Each building has one apartment that is handicap accessible. To qualify for an apartment you need to go through the application process at which time you will be added to the waiting list.

Aliza Tompkins, Housing Director

Aliza is a Chilkoot Indian Association Tribal member born and raised in Haines, Alaska.  She graduated from Haines High School and went on to achieve an Association of Applied Science with honors at ITT Technical Institute in Seattle, Washington.

Her work experience includes twenty-five plus years in customer service which includes seventeen years of Trust Accounting and the interpretation of IRS Legislation working as a pension analyst.
